Knowing how to best care for your windows is tricky business. How often are your supposed to clean for your windows? How do you avoid streaks? And what is the best solution to clean your outside windows? In an ideal world, you would use pure water because not only is it environmentally friendly, but it is also guaranteed to leave no streaks afterwards. But, what can you use if you do not have access to pure water?
From our years of experience in the business, we have found that there are certain tips and tricks which are helpful to know when window cleaning. For instance, it is a good idea to avoid using tap water alone, as it contains dissolved minerals which will dry to leave a residue and create streaks.
Instead, we would recommend making a homemade window cleaner. All you need to do is combine 2 parts water with one part white vinegar and shake together in a spray bottle. This solution is will not result in streaks.
If you want to use a store-bought cleaner, then we recommend a vinegar-based cleaner. You should avoid one which is alcohol- or ammonia-based as it is likely to leave streaks.
For wiping supplies, you should use a clean microfibre cloth or a squeegee. Definitely avoid using paper towels or newspaper, as they will both leave marks.
Overall, cleaning windows is a very important aspect to maintaining the appearance of your property.
